Yeezy confirmed in a press release that Kanye West had named former Nike designer Nus Abbas as head of Yeezy’s design.

The new position within the company tasks Abbas with expanding Yeezy. Apparently, he will oversee the direction and launch of projects while reporting directly to West. The company says Abbas “will work to further expand the Yeezy empire, working directly with Ye to direct and launch special projects for the Yeezy brand.” He will oversee Adidas, Gap, and Stemwear, which is connected to Stemplayer, the platform Ye is releasing Donda 2 under.

Abbas tells WWD he’s “energized” to work with Ye. “I’m energized to work with Ye because he cares so deeply about design and moving culture forward. At Yeezy and Gap, I’ve met some of the most talented people and teams, and I’m looking forward to working with them all to extend this new creative vision to the world.”

Abbas’s resume is long. He worked with Nike for five years as the design director for Nike ACG. He also worked with Nikelab Apparel and worked in Paris as head designer of menswear for Uniqlo. He worked for Louis Vuitton for ten years and Gucci for two years before that. It looks like he is more than capable of working for Ye.
