In the heartwarming post, he says, “My G Stars are no joke, Kennedy from Kashmere HS was just awarded a four year scholarship to the University of Texas!” the rapper wrote. “I’m So proud of these kids. H TOWN you know the vibes she gonna get to the bread. GLG🚦GreenLightGang.”
50 launched the G-star program in May 2021 in partnership with Houston Independent School, Horizon United. The program offers high school students to apply for paid internships and participate in the G-Unity Business Lab. It allows students with low incomes to advance their education and pursue their academic dreams.
At a press conference, he released a statement regarding the program.
“These opportunities are huge opportunities that I didn’t have. Being able to provide that in the early stages, I think it changes the direction and the choices that they will make. It prevents them from making some of the mistakes that I made.”
In September, the rapper turned business mogul induced 75 students into the G star program. The students are completing a 12-week after-school business program and must develop a business pitch to give the rapper and community leaders. The winner receives a hefty grant to kickstart their company.
