Bow Wow and Jermaine Dupri have always been one of hip-hop’s great dream teams. However, fans were left shocked when Bow made interesting claims on Twitter about his former label head.
During a Q&A session that began on Wednesday and spanned into Friday, the “Outta My System” star detailed his time with So So Def and his mentors’ ways of doing business. One user tried to check the 35-year-old, claiming that Dupri was the reason behind his success. This didn’t go over too well with Bow, who let it be known that JD did not make him.
“He made kriss kross. He aint make me. I aint go thru artist development i aint have to be taught how to rap,” he tweeted before adding that JD didn’t offer any artist development or teach him anything about the music business.
made who? Hahahaha he made kriss kross. He aint make me. I aint go thru artist development i aint have to be taught how to rap. This aint the tv show the rap game. I came ready. In another interesting take, Bow revealed that of all his records, he is most proud of “I’m a Flirt,” which was performed by R. Kelly. However, since the song was originally meant for him, he has writing credit and publishing rights to it. The record represented an opportunity for Bow to thrive outside of JD’s guidance, which is something he longed for much of his career.
Ima flirt. Because it was w out jd. And it went number one w out jd. And i wrote it w out jd. My whole career i had to over prove to folks im not to be played w. It was like kobe winning w out shaq. Even jd told me “if u think u can do it w out me THEN DO IT” welp i did https://t.co/6yRqSAaPOa

Naturally, fans began to speculate that Dupri and his former protege were beefing. However, Bow says that is not the case but admitted they have their share of issues. One is that the producer does not always keep his word, according to the rapper.
When people say they gone do something and never do it. Jermaine dupri is the king of doing that. Yall know me and jd be bad terms and good terms. It is what it is. https://t.co/NHLjn3ICAz

Elsewhere in the lengthy chat, the “Johnson Family Vacation” star expressed his biggest regret was not staying signed to Snoop Dogg as a child rapper.
