Damon Dash has to cough up over $800,000 in damages to the director and producers of a movie he tried to claim as his own.

TMZ reported that Dash took the loss Wednesday morning when the jury sided with Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures, who produced the feature film “Dear Frank,” starring Brian White, Claudia Jordan, Nick Turturro, Lil Durk, and Columbus Short.

Three years ago, the producers sued the Roc-A-Fella co-founder for copyright infringement and defamation, claiming he marketed the film as his own despite his departure from the production.

In addition, Dame is accused of sending promotional material for the film to networks like BET but changing the title to “The List.”

In 2016, Josh and Muddy Water Pictures claim Dame was supposed to start directing the film, but he wasn’t fit for the job because he was often too high on set while filming. By 2018, he was cut from the film, and it was completed without him.

Soon after, he retaliated by saying that the film was shot at his house with his equipment, so he took the footage and started working without them. Unfortunately for Dash, the jury was not on his side, and now he has to hand over more than $800,000.

Attorney Chris Brown says, “I will get every penny due to my clients.”
