According to reports, the brutal rape and murder of a teenage girl who was shot, then raped, and dumped on the side of a Mississippi road has led to three people being charged with capital murder.
On Friday, Jackson Police Department Deputy Chief Deric Hearn announced that Dewitt Anderson, 34, Cedric Banks, 37, and Kaymia Blackmon, 19, have been arrested in connection with the February murder of Amya Carey, 18.
It took more than a month – until March 24 – for her remains to be identified. Carey‘s body was found off the road in a wooded area north of downtown Jackson on Feb. 15. She had been sexually assaulted and shot three times.
On the night that Carey was killed, a relative reported that Carey had picked up Blackmon– a friend of hers, and Blackmon‘s boyfriend, 34-year-old Anderson.
Carey was allegedly shot two more times by Banks before the three dumped her body.
Investigators called Blackmon and Anderson in for questioning on March 30 and asked them about what happened that evening.
