Coachella has found a replacement for Kanye West…The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. The artists will perform during the third and biggest night of the music festival, Sunday, April 17 & April 24.
Though the singer agreed to perform, TMZ reports his set will be shorter because of how short notice everything has been. Swedish House Mafia was supposed to headline Friday night, but since Kanye West’s last-minute dropout, acts were rearranged.
Silk Sonic was considered to take Kanye’s place after the news. The group recently won big at the Grammys, however, Bruno Mars refused to perform due to late notice, and he didn’t believe the show could be put together. Other big names that would take the spot included Justin Bieber and Travis Scott. Both turned down the invitation due to the short amount of time.
With Coachella just weeks away, it’s still unclear how The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia will perform together. Though they do have one song together, “Moth to a Flame,” the artists have different directions currently.
The Weeknd’s “Dawn FM” hit Billboard’s No.1 in January, while Swedish House Mafia is dropping an album “Paradise Again,” just in time for Coachella.
Both parties are represented by management SALXCO.
