Whoopi Goldberg will be departing from “The View” for now. Fellow co-host Joy Behar announced that Goldberg would not be on the show.
The 66-year-old actress will be filming for a new Amazon Prime series, Neil Gaiman’s “Anansi Boys,” and filming will begin shortly. Fans noticed Whoopi was absent on Monday, and Behar told viewers she’ll be “gone for a while.”
“If you’re wondering where Whoopi is, the girl’s got a movie she’s making, and she will be back when she finishes whatever she’s doing. So she’s gone for a while.”
Goldberg talked about the book. “Anansi Boys” and how she is excited. “I have been a fan of this book for a very long time, and when Neil Gaiman told me it was being brought to the screen, I did everything I could to be part of it to help make people aware of Anansi and all his magic.”
Goldberg will play a villain seeking revenge in the series. Her absence comes two weeks after her suspension over her Holocaust comments on air.
