Classroom

A substitute teacher has been charged after slapping an 8-year-old student who spits on him during class.

The unfortunate incident took place on April 1st at Fannie Fitzgerald Elementary in Woodbridge, Virginia. Eman Mohammed Alkindi was inside a classroom with other school employees when the student became irate and spat on Alkindi. The 44-year-old fill-in educator apparently lost his cool, smacking the child in the face before exiting the classroom. School staff members in the class notified the police soon after. Alkindi was arrested the following day.

The school sent a letter to parents about the incident and confirmed that Alkindi resigned from the school system. While the Prince William County School Board offers child abuse and neglect training, this course is optional for substitute teachers. It remains unclear if Alkindi took this training. A high school diploma, verifiable references, and fingerprints on file are the general prerequisites for becoming a temporary educator with the school board.

Alkindi has since been released on a court summons. No court date information has been made public. His arrest was the latest in a string of school arrests that have plagued the Prince William County school district. Last week, a student at Hylton High School was arrested for brandishing a BB gun during an argument with a fellow student.

I hope he slapped the spit out his mouth. Maybe being slapped as a child will help the little monster from becoming a spitting adult, who I have to deal with as a nurse.

Spitting on someone is the most disrespectful thing to do. I would’ve slapped him as well.
