A Missouri man will spend the next decade behind bars after trying to hire a hitman to kill a minor who he was accused of molesting.
This week, Jon Mark Wilson of Sedalia received a ten-year federal prison sentence for soliciting an undercover officer to murder his alleged victim. Wilson had paid the officer $2,000 to kill the young boy, whom he was previously charged with assaulting in 2019. Wilson had also promised another $5,000 after the juvenile was dead and purchased 25 shotgun shells for the agent to use in the killing.
The deranged man also wanted to have the mother killed but couldn’t afford to carry out both slayings. Instead, his plan was to devastate her so much with the killing of her son that she’d commit suicide. Wilson wanted the crime to look like a carjacking so that it could not be linked back to him. He even provided the undercover officer with a photo of the juvenile to ensure things went smoothly.
Wilson maintained that the sodomy claims were not factual and were filed by his ex-wife and her son to get money out of him. Nevertheless, he pleaded guilty to using interstate facilities in the commission of a murder-for-hire plot in September.
His sodomy case is still pending.
