According to Tiffany Haddish, DUI has a whole new meaning– “dumb unfortunate incident.”
While guest-hosting The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she addressed the audience over the arrest and made light of it.
The 42-year-old comedian was arrested in Georgia for driving under the influence earlier this year. She also said she was single and on the “apps.” She said she wanted a man with a “perfect credit score” in her monologue.
She was previously linked to the rapper Common, but the two split in November after a year of dating. After her dating trials, she talked about the elephant in the room, her DUI.
She says she was praying for a man, and God sent her four men in uniforms.
“Yeah, they were the police. They got good benefits and everything, so I can’t even be mad. And yes, I did get charged with a DUI, which stands for Dumb Unfortunate Incidents.”
Her mugshot then appeared on the screen.
She joked, “Still cute… looking good. I’m going to turn that into an NFT.”
The Girls Trip actress was arrested in Peachtree City after police received a 911 call around 2:30 am on Jan. 14. She had fallen asleep at the wheel on Highway 74.
Following her arrest, Haddish opened up about the difficult time in her life. She lost her grandmother, that raised her, her pet dog, and close friends, comedian Bob Saget and Carl Craig.
“I’m very emotional. I’ve been crying a lot ’cause it’s— that’s my heart,” the star said in January. “My dog was my heart, and the other people who passed, you know, they were my rocks. They had my back. I mean, they taught me a lot, so I lost the physical, [but] I’m sure I got them in the spiritual.”
