Suspect in Young Dolph’s Murder Gets 2 Years in Prison for Unrelated Violation

Justin Johnson

One of the suspects that has been charged in the fatal shooting of Memphis rapper Young Dolph has been sentenced to prison for violating a previous federal charge.

Justin Johnson, the 23-year-old suspect in the murder of the late rapper, was sentenced on Tuesday. He was given two years for violating the terms of his supervised release that was for a past weapons charge.

The suspect pleaded guilty to violations that include “not being regularly employed, missing mandatory drug screenings and therapy, failing to seek permission before leaving the jurisdiction, and being arrested.”

Less than a month ago, Johnson was attacked by another inmate incarcerated with him at Shelby County Jail. According to TMZ, he was punched in the face while he was on the phone in the jail’s visitation area.

His Lawyer Juni Ganguli said he was not seriously injured and didn’t give a motive for the assault.

Johnson was arrested along with Cornelius Smith, 32, in January for their connection with Dolph’s murder. Johnson faces charges of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and employment of a firearm, and theft of property over $10,000.
