Pooh Shiesty Sentenced to 63 Months in Prison Over 2020 Florida Shooting

Pooh Shiesty

Pooh Shiesty was sentenced to 63 months in prison in connection to a federal firearms case in Florida.

The “Back in Bloods” rapper, whose given name is Lontrell Williams Jr., was sentenced Wednesday in a Miami courtroom, three months after he pleaded to a charge stemming from a confrontation outside a Florida hotel where a man ended up getting shot in the butt. Prosecutors say the 22-year-old shot 28-year-old Brandon Cooper in October 2020 when he allegedly met up with the victim at the Landon Hotel to purchase marijuana and sneakers.

In January, Williams took a plea deal, pleading guilty to a firearms conspiracy charge. As a result, three other charges were dropped, and he no longer faced a possible life sentence for the shooting.

The rapper has been in federal custody in Miami since last summer. Rolling Stone reports that the judge gave Pooh credit for nearly a year he has already spent behind bars. He could be released Williams in 3½ years for good behavior. Williams initially faced up to 97 months in prison, a sentence prosecutors previously recommended.
