A Los Angeles-based medical clinic was ordered to pay millions after it allegedly falsified hundreds of COVID-19 test results.

“Sameday Health,” a medical clinic that offers a variety of services including urgent care assistance, medication refills and treatments for infections and allergies, is being accused of falsifying and forging hundreds of COVID-19 test results, according to a complaint that was sent to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

There are at least 55 Sameday Technologies testing sites in the country; Sameday Technologies is operated under Sameday Health. ABC 7 reports there are 16 locations in Los Angeles County.

According to the complaint filed by Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer and Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón, Sameday Health allegedly claimed through advertisements that it would give customers COVID-19 test results within 24 hours even though it knew it wouldn’t be able to. In addition, when it couldn’t provide test results back to customers within 24 hours, the clinic was accused of making up tests results and giving them to at least 500 customers.

The clinic also allegedly gave fake results to people whose tests were never processed by labs, ABC 7 reports. The lawsuit ended in a $22.5 million settlement.
