New security footage from DaBaby’s 2018 Walmart shooting sheds new light on the incident.
Back in 2018, DaBaby shot and killed 19-year-old Jaylin Craig, and following the shooting, the rapper claimed it was an act of self-defense. Now, there’s a new investigative report that includes new footage that allegedly shows DaBaby as the aggressor.
The shooting took place in North Caroline on Nov. 5, 2018, and it reportedly started because the rapper became annoyed after he was recognized. DaBaby reportedly told police that either Craig or his friend Henry Douglas suggested they go outside and fight, but allegedly DaBaby was the person to first suggest a physical interaction between the three.
Craig’s family reportedly has been unsatisfied with how police handled the situation and the rapper’s self-defense claims. Officers allegedly didn’t interview any of the “multiple people at Walmart” who were reportedly connected to DaBay and Douglas.
In the footage, DaBaby can be seen throwing a punch a Douglas, who was “blindsided.” He then pulled out a gun and shot Craig. Craig also allegedly had a gun, but there are no details on whether he was brandishing the weapon when he approached Douglas and DaBaby during their fight.
In 2019, DaBaby was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon in connection with the shooting, and the public seemingly accepted his self-defense claims. Rolling Stone first reported on the new footage; the video was retrieved last April and included in a police filing in Craig’s case.
