DC Young Fly says he holds the key to getting Chris Tucker to return to the “Friday” franchise.
DC revealed that Tucker told him he’d be willing to reprise his role as “Smokey” in the cult classic only if DC is willing to portray his son in the film.
“Chris Tucker out his mouth told me…literally this year…He said if I play his son, he’ll be in the movie,” the Wild N’ Out comedian said during an appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast.
The 85 South host shared the clip on his Instagram, where he proceeded to tag Tucker in an effort to get the ball rolling.
Tucker’s famous “Smokey” character was severely missed by fans in the “Friday” sequels. Allegedly, “religious reasons” kept him from returning to the franchise. “Smokey” was the well-known stoner in the film whose strong bond with marijuana often kept him in a bind. Apparently, the character’s essence and actions do not align with who Tucker is today. However, that has not stopped “Friday” lovers from holding out hope that he will make his return to the movie one day. For years, the final installment of the flick, “Last Friday,” has been delayed, with Ice Cube accusing Warner Bros. of refusing to move forward with the project. The script was reportedly completed in 2019.
Chris Tucker has not publicly responded to DC Young Fly’s claims. Would you be here for the on-camera father-son duo?
