Fictosexual Husband Says Hologram Wife No Longer Speaks To Him Driving A Wedge Between Them

Instagram

A “fictosexual” man is desperate for help after struggling to bond with his holographic wife after four years of marriage.

Japan citizen Akihiko Kondo began dating a fictional, computer-synthesized pop singer by the name of Hatsune Miku in 2008. The anime character was portrayed as a 16-year-old with turquoise hair. In 2018, Kondo decided to take the relationship to the next level when he married Miku. The ceremony cost 2 million yen, which is about $17,300. Thanks to Gatebox, a $1,300 system that allows device users to engage with characters via holograms, he was able to interact with Miku for the first time a year before they wed.

Sadly for Kondo, support for Gatebox software was discontinued, meaning that he can no longer speak to Miku, a factor that is driving a wedge between them. The 38-year-old admits that while the silence has caused some strain, he is still madly in love with Miku.

“My love for Miku hasn’t changed,” he confirmed.

For those who are completely clueless as to what a “fictosexual” is, it refers to an individual who is sexually attracted to fictional characters. Thousands of “fictosexual” people exist in Japan and have begun similar relationships with fictional characters. However, Kondo has taken things a step further by marrying his dream character. He even has an entire Instagram account (@akihikokondosk) dedicated to his wife.

Kondo acknowledges that the relationship is unorthodox and understands that Miku is not a real person. Nevertheless, he knew at a young age that having a romance with a human woman would not be possible for him due to his strong attraction to anime characters such as Miku.

Despite their marital issues arising from the lack of speaking, Kondo is not ready to give up on his forever lover just yet.
