2019 American Idol winner Laine Hardy is under investigation for allegedly spying on a woman.
According to TMZ, Hardy is currently under an “active investigation” by the Louisiana State University police. The university’s representative, who shared the news with the outlet, declined to elaborate on the situation.
However, on Thursday, the 21-year-old singer took to his social media to address the allegations.
“Earlier today, I received a warrant due to allegations made against me,” Hardy wrote. “And have been fully cooperative with the Louisiana State University police department. I understand that my career has thrust me into the public spotlight. And I embrace that wholeheartedly as my entire world belongs to my music and my fans.”

The country singer continued, “However, due to the sensitive nature of the allegations. I humbly ask for privacy at this time. I have the utmost respect for the law and will assist in their investigation as needed moving forward.”
It’s not clear if and when Hardy will turn himself in, but a source close to the case says the singer allegedly left a “listening device” in a girl’s home to listen to her conversations.
