Former singer-songwriter for Death Row Records, Jewell, has reportedly passed away.

According to Reggie Wright Jr., the First Lady of Death Row took her last breath at 5 a.m. on Friday. Jewel’s death comes roughly two months following her hospitalization for eight pounds of fluid on her heart, lungs, and legs. Jewell’s official cause of death remains unknown at this time.

In an Instagram post on March 21st, Jewell shared that she overcame her health struggles in the meantime.

“I was Hospitalized on March 2, 2022,” the singer wrote. “Released on March 5, 2022, went home, 8lbs of fluid on my heart, lungs, and legs! Went back to the hospital March 16th until Today, March 21, 2022. I Almost Died! Was supposed to be Airlifted to another facility. GOD reverse my symptoms extended me some GRACE! And gave me more time with my Family and Friends! Thank you JESUS for saving my life again! GOD IS REAL!”

Jewell rose to fame after signing with Death Row in 1992. While there, Jewell collaborated on many hits with multiple artists such as Dr. Dre, N.W.A, Bone Thugs -N-Harmony, and Tha Dogg Pound.

In 2021, Jewell sat down with ‘The Art Of Dialogue’ to speak on her career and her time with Death Row. Jewell said she was “seen but not heard,” and chalked it up to her physical appearance.

“I was never seen, but my voice was heard,” she said. “I was a juicy girl, and they wanted a slim-jim. So you never really saw me in any videos.”
