Accused New York City subway shooter Frank James has been indicted by a federal grand jury for committing a terrorist attack on a mass transit system, the crime comes with the possibility of life in prison if he is found guilty.
The indictment was handed over in Brooklyn federal court Friday and accuses James of firing a gun during a violent crime. If he is convicted of that count, James faces the mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life, the New York Post reported.
James, 62, Allegedly opened fire on a crowded rush-hour train in Sunset Park on April 12, which left 10 people shot.
If convicted, the government will also seek forfeiture of James’ assets, which includes a 9 mm Glock pistol seized in Brooklyn, the indictment details.
The case was assigned to Judge William Kuntz, however, no date has been set for James’ arraignment.
