A Baltimore teenager was gunned down at an after-prom party, and police are on the hunt for the suspect.

The tragic murder took place on Friday, May 13th. Jasmine Brunson, a 17-year-old at Carver Vocational-Technical High School, had just enjoyed his prom night and was attending the gathering at an Airbnb when shots rang out at the home on the 1700 block of East Lafayette Avenue. Emergency personnel responded and rushed Brunson to a nearby hospital. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries.

Brunson has been described by everyone who knew him as a stand-up student who excelled in boxing with dreams of going pro.

“He went to school and went to boxing every day Monday through Friday. Saturday and Sunday, he stayed in the boxing ring at Upton,” shared his mother, Tiffany Hair.

One of Brunson’s teachers, Christian Miller, said that the 11th grader was a “leader in the school community.”

Wednesday, family, and friends came together for a vigil honoring his life and calling for justice. Many remain in disbelief that the teenager who everyone adored was murdered so brutally while innocently hanging out with friends and celebrating every high schooler’s big night.

A $16,000 reward has been raised for information leading to Brunson’s killer. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan matched the original $8,000 Metro Crime Stoppers reward.

A GoFundMe established to cover Brunson’s funeral cost topped $15,000 as of Friday, blowing past the original $6,500 as hundreds rushed to pay their respects to the future boxing star.
