A Florida woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $400,000 from an elderly cancer patient.

A 70-year-old woman receiving care as a cancer patient at a hospital in Miami-Dade County, signed over all of her assets, including her home, bank accounts, and all of her possessions, to a woman she thought was her daughter. It was actually a woman named Ana Nunez, who worked with her now-incarcerated son to act out the scheme.

Fox News reports that Nunez appeared in court this past Saturday, where she stands accused of stealing more than $437,000 from the victims. She’s been charged with organized fraud, exploitation of the elderly and theft from the elderly, adding up to more than $50,000, WPLG reports.

No details about the victim’s physical condition were released, but Fox News reports that Nunez allegedly acted like she was the victim’s daughter and tricked her into signing off on legal documents, making Nunez a power of attorney.

This is the first time Nunez has performed criminal activity. Back in 2014, she was previously convicted of grand theft and forgery. Nunez’s bond has been set at $45,000.
