Fat Joe says he regrets his beef with JAY-Z and Roc-A-Fella records.
During an interview with Math Hoffa, Fat Joe detailed the backstory of his and Jay’s falling out. Everything started in 2004 when Fat Joe and JAY-Z were set to go against one another in a Harlem-based basketball tournament that included professional basketball players and rappers, Hypebeast reports.
When Hov didn’t show up for the championship game, the win went to Joe’s team. Afterward, Fat Joe got on the “Lean Back” track and rapped about his glory.
“I don’t wanna speak about the Rucker/Not even Pee Wee Kirkland could imagine this/My n***a didn’t have to play to win the championship,” said Joe in the song.
Today, he says he regrets his decision to start the drama.
“One of the greatest friendships, admiration and love, I played myself. With everything that happened with us and Roc-A-Fella and all that was Fat Joe’s doing, and I played myself, and I was wrong,” said Joe. “I wasted 10, 15 years we could have got money with each other. I ain’t going lie, ever since I started f*cking with JAY-Z, I’ve been getting paid.”
