A Southwest passenger receives 15 months behind bars for attacking a flight attendant and knocking out her teeth.
On Tuesday, Vyvianna Quinonez was ordered to pay $33,000 in restitution and fines following the attack. In addition, she is also banned from flying for three years after her jail release.
May 2021, Quinonez boarded a Southwest flight and was asked to buckle her seat belt, stow her tray table, and put on her facemask properly.
Quinonez didn’t comply but instead began pushing, punching, and grabbing the attendant’s hair. Another passenger recorded the entire incident that left the attendant with several injuries.
The flight attendant suffered three chipped teeth, which required crowns. She also needed stitches for a cut under her eye. Quinonez pled guilty to interfering with the flight crew.
Due to the rise of altercations last month, the Federal Aviation Administration says its “zero-tolerance policy” will remain permanent.
