The legendary Los Angeles drive-in movie theater might receive a so-chic modern upgrade, a Tesla marquee, and an EV charging station that will stay open 24 hours.
Tesla reportedly filed plans to replace Shakey’s pizza at 7001 W. Santa Monica Blvd. The upgrades include a 24-hour Tesla restaurant, drive-in theater, and charging station.
The inspiration comes from Tesla’s owner, Elon Musk, who in 2018 tweeted visions of a retro-like restaurant with Tesla at the center of attention.
Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA

“Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA,” he tweeted.
The Real Deal reports that Tesla filed a proposal with the L.A. Planning Department for a 9,300-square-foot restaurant, where drivers can watch movies and eat while charging their electric vehicles.
There is no date for the futuristic meets 1950s restaurant, but it hasn’t been approved by the city either.
It looks like the new spot will be the place to be when you want to charge your Tesla, eat all night, and enjoy a movie.Â
