New details have emerged confirming that a Las Vegas woman consumed five tequila shots before causing a fatal DUI crash.
On Wednesday morning at around 4:00 a.m., 38-year-old Lisa Guerino drove through a stop sign and slammed her Jeep Grand Cherokee into a Volkswagen SUV carrying 37-year-old Stephens Palmatier Jr at Centennial Parkway and Shaumber Road. His three-year-old son was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, Palmatier was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people inside the vehicle, a six-year-old girl and a 38-year-old female who was the driver, sustained injuries as well, though they are not life-threatening.
A receipt from Jackpot Joanie’s casino shows that Guerino purchased five shots of Patron and drank them before getting behind the wheel of her Jeep. She was also captured on surveillance video at the casino, seemingly inebriated.
After the crash, Guerino fled the scene on foot and went home. When police arrived at her house, she claimed she was home in bed at the time of the wreck. She was eventually arrested and charged with two counts of DUI causing death or substantial bodily harm. Her bail has been set at $100,000. If released, she has been ordered not to drive.
