Is $2000 enough for 100 cockroaches? Well, a pest company says it’ll pay $2000 to participants who will allow the company to release 100 cockroaches in their homes for a study.

The North Carolina company, The Pest Informer, posted on its website that it is looking for about five to seven households that will allow them to put about 100 American cockroaches into their house.

The company said it’s conducting a study on a “specific pest control technique,” which will take about 30 days and will require technicians to film the process.

The cockroach study only has a few stipulations: it requires the written approval of the homeowner, who must be at least 21 years of age, and the house must be located somewhere in the continental US.

During the 30-day process, homeowners are not allowed to use other pest-control techniques. The company does promise that it will use traditional cockroach treatment options if its new technique does not clear out the infestation by the end of the 30 days, Business Insider reported.

There are more than 4,000 different types of cockroaches in the world, but American cockroaches are among said to be the most common in the country. The pests are difficult to get rid of because of their hard shell, resiliency, and their speed at which they reproduce.

One female American cockroach, during her peak, can produce two egg cases a week. Each case has about 16 eggs that take between 24 to 38 days to hatch.

While it is unclear what approach The Pest Informer will use in the study, pest-control professionals often use gel bat insecticides or dust, which they put in heavy traffic areas for the roaches.

The Pest Informer also says its been around for 26 years and has been continually creating technology for pet-friendly extermination methods.

To sign up for the study and the extra $2,000, homeowners can fill out a form on the company website with their state of residence, date of birth, and any details regarding any possible prior pest infestations.
