On Thursday, at least two people were killed and others were injured in a shooting at an Alabama church.
The incident occurred at the Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, at 6 p.m. local time. According to police Cpt. Shane Ware, three people were injured in all during the shooting.
ABC News reported that two individuals have died, and another is undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.
Ware said he didn’t have any identifying information about the victims or the shooter during a press conference on Thursday night. However, he clarified that the suspect had been apprehended and that “no additional threat to the community” existed.
The church had planned to host a “Boomers Potluck” that evening. It’s unknown how many people were inside during the attack.
During the press conference, Ware praised several law enforcement agencies for their assistance, including the FBI, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the United States Marshals Service. Details about the circumstances of the incident or how the suspect was captured are unknown.
