During a recent interview, actress Taraji P. Henson revealed that she is seriously considering leaving America and living abroad.
The 51-year-old said she is tired of fighting, due to the political and social unrest in the US.
“I’m really considering getting up out of here, leaving and living in another country,’ she said on the People Every Day podcast. ‘I want to go where there’s neutral ground, and I don’t have to fight. I don’t have to choose and pick a side. I can just be, and I can live.”
“I want to be called “Bella” every day,” she added.
When asked why she wanted to leave the country, she said because of the “pressures of being Black” and the never-ending fight for justice.
“I just don’t want to have to do another hashtag … I fought, I chanted, I marched. I’m tired,” she continued. “That’s something that comes with 50. You get tired of fighting. I’m tired.”
She said, “There’s something that happens when you turn 50, where all of your f**ks are behind you. I’ve survived, and a lot of people can’t say that. I’ve accomplished a lot, and I’m going to do what I want to do.”
“I’m at the point now where if I say, ‘I quit, I’m going to go travel the world,’ I can. It’s so freeing.”
Although the star hasn’t planned to move abroad soon, she does hope to take a trip with one of her close friends, Mary J. Blige.
“Me and Mary have been trying to do this trip for so long, but our schedules just keep getting crazy.”
“I just told her, ‘Look, enough is enough, I need a vacation!'”‘
