Ghislaine Maxwell should be locked behind prison doors for at least 30 years, say federal prosecutors.
Between 30 and 55 years is the amount of time federal prosecutors say Maxwell should serve time in prison after she was convicted last year of sex trafficking of a minor and other charges. Prosecutors reportedly made their argument for the amount of sentenced time this past Wednesday. She’s set to go through sentencing next week on June 28.
Back in December, Maxwell was found guilty of five out of six charges she faced in connection to sex abuse crimes committed by her and her former partner Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell in 2019.
“Maxwell was an adult who made her own choices,” prosecutors said in their sentencing memo on Wednesday, Complex Media reports, per Law & Crime. “She made the choice to sexually exploit numerous underage girls. She made the choice to conspire with Epstein for years, working as partners in crime and causing devastating harm to vulnerable victims. She should be held accountable for her disturbing role in an extensive child exploitation scheme.”
Along with sentenced time, Maxwell may also be ordered to pay a $750,000 fine.
