The school police chief has been suspended after backlash from locals over the poor response to the Robb Elementary school gunman, Salvador Ramos.
Several weeks have now gone by after the tragic massacre that took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. The outcry from the community over officers’ delayed response to the shooting, has now led to the suspension of the school district’s police chief Pedro “Pete” Arredondo.
CNN U.S. reports that a top Texas official called the lack of action from police officers an “abject failure.”
”From the beginning of this horrible event, I shared that the district would wait until the investigation was complete before making personnel decisions,” said Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District Superintendent Hal Harrell in a statement, CNN U.S. reports.
He continued: ”Today, I am still without details of the investigations being conducted by various agencies. Because of the lack of clarity that remains and the unknown timing of when I will receive the results of the investigations, I have made the decision to place Chief Arredondo on administrative leave effective on this date.”
