Netflix might be inking an ad partnership deal with two notable companies.
An ad-supported version of subscriptions is coming to Netflix, whether we like it or not, and the streaming giant is already working out a possible arrangement.
According to Reuters, Netflix is in talks with two companies for possible partnerships. Google is one of the options and the second is NBCUniversal, PC Mag reports.
This all comes after headlines surfaced that Netflix might purchase the digital media video streaming platform Roku. This could mean that Netflix will work through a third-party option to provide ads, as Roku already has a flourishing ad business.
For those who have paid subscriptions without ads, no need to worry, the new tier won’t affect you. CEO Ted Sarandos said “We’re adding an ad tier for folks who say ‘hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch ads.'”
