Former pro-NFL baller O.J. Simpson is being sued by the father of Ronald Goldman, one of the people Simpson is accused of killing.
The 1994 murders of Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman continue to gain publicity 25 years later. Both were found stabbed to death at Brown’s Brentwood, California, home. Despite evidence and a now-famous police chase, Simpson was acquitted of the deaths in 1995. Though interestingly, he was found liable for their deaths in a 1997 lawsuit.
Goldman’s father, Fred, is now renewing that old case against Simpson, who was ordered to pay the Goldman family $33.5 million in the original lawsuit. Fred has made multiple attempts over the years to collect the judgment. In 2015, the amount rose to $57 million due to accrued interest. By 2017, the total stood at $70 million. That year, Fred filed court documents to collect the funds from any money Simpson made from appearances, interviews, etc.
Fred says throughout the years, Simpson has only paid roughly $132,849 in small increments. This is not a fraction of what he owes, which has not ballooned to about $96 million.
O.J. Simpson has not publicly addressed the lawsuit.
