A missing New York teenager who witnessed her father’s fatal shooting was found dead in a shallow grave in the woods.
Jalia Marrero, 18, was discovered deceased in a wooded area in Buffalo earlier this month. People reports that Marrero’s body was identified by the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office, but no cause of death has been released.
On May 4, Marrero witnessed the murder of her father, Luis Marrero, 39, who was shot to death in an apartment. Following the murder, Marrero herself went missing just days later. She was last seen by family members either on the 9th or 10th but wasn’t reported missing until May 21.
According to Marrero’s family, she has spoken to the police about what she witnessed and provided a statement.
Family members reportedly say they know who killed the teen and her father, but so far, no arrests have been made. The family told Buffalo News they are living in fear with the killer still out on the street.
People contacted the Buffalo Police Department for comment but did not hear back. The investigation remains open.
