According to Kodak Black‘s legal team, the oxycodone pills found during the rapper’s recent arrest were prescribed.
Black’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, told TMZ that Kodak is still dealing with chronic pain from the gunshot wound sustained during a scuffle in February and was prescribed the painkillers to combat any ailments that stemmed from his injury.
In addition to the shooting, Kodak claimed he was beaten by guards while imprisoned in a Kentucky federal prison before Donald Trump pardoned him. He reportedly experienced severe pain since the attack, which the medication helped.
Cohen claims that he has provided the authorities with evidence that the drugs were legitimately prescribed to address the situation quickly.
Last Saturday, Florida Highway Patrol stopped Kodak after his illegal window tint alerted their radar, where 31 pills were discovered.
