Just one day before the release of her highly anticipated 7th studio album, Renaissance Act I, Beyoncé dropped a message to her fans, children, parents, husband, and uncle Johnny, whom she refers to as her Godmother.
“This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic,” said Beyonce, making it clear that more music is on the way. The question is, when will we get it?
Bey shared that the pandemic was a time for her to be her most creative. “Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little was moving.”
This album has been described as a dance album.
Dance music has been very popular in the ballroom scene, which has been a safe haven for many in the LGBTQ community. Beyonce gave thanks to her uncle Johnny who she describes as her Godmother, stating, “A big thank you to my uncle Johnny, he was my Godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album.”
With that in mind, she also shared her intentions for the album, “My intentions were to create a safe place, a place without judgement, a place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking, a place to scream, release, feel freedom.”
In addition to her uncle, she also thanked her kids, Rumi, Sir and Blue, for allowing her the “space, creativity and inspiration.” She thanks Jay Z, referring to him as her “Muse.”
She thanked her mom, her team, and the pioneers who originated the culture. She also thanked those who have passed away, who were contributors to the culture and went without being recognized.
Finally, she thanked her father, Matthew Knowles, with a personal message stating, “To my father, my O.G, my first teacher: you inspire me in every move that I make. I love you.” This may surprise fans following the alleged rocky relationship between the two may come as a surprise.
Despite being leaked, Renaissance Act I is scheduled to be released on Friday, July 29th.
