The state of Florida has filed a complaint against The R House, which features a drag show, saying it exposes children to sexually explicit behavior.
“Having kids involved in this is wrong. That is not consistent with our law and policy in the state of Florida and it’s a disturbing trend in our society to try to sexualize these young people,” said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, CBS Reports. His words come after several videos and images online reportedly showing children attending drag shows.
As part of its mission to target restaurants that feature drag shows, DeSantis’s administration issued a complaint against the R House over its drag shows that take place on the weekend. The administration allegedly claims the food spot hosts performances that are “sexually explicit” and not suitable for children to view.
The R House now has 21 days to respond. In the meantime, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation has launched an investigation into the matter. In a statement to The Miami Herald, the restaurant said: “We are aware of the complaint and are currently working with the Department of Business and Professional Regulation, through our attorney, to resolve the situation.”
