Three people were arrested for the death of a 19-day-old baby boy found dead in a Pahrump, Nevada home.
Daniel Bills, Erica Lorlean Eisenloffel, and Angelina Guerini-Bolt face murder and child abuse charges. Bills and Eisenloffel were the infant’s parents.
The cause of the baby’s death has not been released, but according to the criminal complaint, the boy suffered “unjustifiable physical pain or mental suffering.” The infant was starved and dehydrated, and the home was filled with garbage, human waste, and drug paraphernalia. Prosecutors believe the boy ingested contaminated formula and methamphetamine.
Eisenloffel, the daughter of a Nye County Undersheriff, had previously been arrested on charges including child abuse and possession of a controlled substance. Sheriff Michael Eisenloffel said that he had been estranged from his daughter and was unaware that she had given birth.
“I have had virtually no contact with my daughter for more than two years as she has chosen a life of narcotics use and criminal activity,” he said. “The day the Nye County sheriff’s office was notified of the baby’s transport to the hospital and subsequent death was the first time I became aware that my daughter had delivered the baby.”
Sheriff Sharon Wehrly announced Thursday that the case would be turned over to the Nevada State Police “to avoid the appearance of impropriety.”
Bills and Guerini-Bolt are scheduled to appear in court on August 25. Eisenloffel was arrested in Las Vegas and is awaiting transport back to Nye County.
