A Bronx man is behind bars for participating in a daring gunpoint robbery outside a Manhattan nightclub early Friday. Authorities say a group of masked men stole a man’s Rolex during the heist.
Usman Haruna, 24, is facing charges of robbery and grand larceny. At his arraignment on Saturday, he was held on $25,000 bail.
Haruna was with the group of masked men who approached a man standing next to a Mercedes. They patted the victim down and took his Rolex watch, chain, bracelet, cash, and wallet.
Thankfully two plainclothes detectives were in the area and witnessed the robbery. They approached the men, who opened fire on the officers. The officers returned fire. The suspects fled the area in a light-colored sedan.
According to the criminal complaint, Haruna told officers he stayed in the car during the robbery. He said three of the suspects showed him what he thought was a BB gun before everyone fled the area.
Haruna is also being investigated for dragging and running over a New York Police Department officer while fleeing a traffic stop in December of 2021.
