Beyoncé is the queen for a reason. Her seventh studio album has hit No.1 on Billboard, proving she’s really that girl.

Renaissance has landed on Billboard’s Top 200 albums, and it’s No. 1– making Queen Bey the first female to have the biggest opening this year.

The project debuted with a total of 332,000 equivalent album units (a combination of 179.06 million streams and 190,000 album sales) in its first week. Plus, it marks the singer’s seventh solo album to take the no.1 spot. Renaissance was the only album released by a woman to top the Billboard 200 this year.

Recently Bey made other news by joining a selected trio, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney as the first woman to earn at least 20 top 10s as a soloist and ten as a group member (Destiny’s Child.)

And indeed, her album will continue to do numbers as the album has made other lists in the UK and worldwide.

Renaissance debuted on July 29, 2022, and is the first act of three she recorded during the pandemic. The huge achievement follows after her previous albums, Lemonade, Beyoncé, and 4, also sitting on top of the Billboard Top 200 Albums after their initial releases.

Renaissance was dedicated to her late Uncle Johnny, who died from complications caused by HIV. Tina Knowles posted about the album on Instagram, saying Uncle Johnny was a huge inspiration to them.

Beyoncé wrote in the dedication, “He was my godmother and the first person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album.”
