According to Damon Dash he invested in a ton of Lee Daniels films including “The Butler,” “The Woodsman,” “Precious,” “The Paperboy” and he hasn’t gotten a penny back. He specifically notes dumping $2M in “The Woodsman” in 2004. Not only that, Dash claims that he was screwed out of his executive producer and producer credits on the films and now according to court documents, he is looking for a minimum of $25Mil.
Considering how well some of these movies did, if Dame has all his ducks in a row, he can stand to make some good money. I mean, in 2004, I definitely believe he could afford to invest in Lee Daniels’ films. Not so much in 2013 for “The Butler” but who am I to count that man’s pockets?
