A doctor in California was allegedly caught pouring what appeared to be Drano in her husband’s lemonade in an attempt to kill him.
Last week, police in Irvine, California, arrested 45-year-old Yue “Emily” Yu after her husband showed authorities evidence of her trying to end his life. According to court documents, her husband set up a hidden camera in the couple’s home kitchen. In the video footage, Yu is allegedly seen pouring a drain cleaning solution into his cup of lemonade on at least three occasions, ABC 7 reports.
The husband became suspicious of his wife after tasting chemicals in his lemonade over the past few months since March. At one point, he was even diagnosed with two stomach ulcers, gastritis and esophagitis. Growing skeptical, he set up cameras in his home. Once Yu was caught in action, her husband reported her to the police and she was arrested.
The husband has since filed a restraining order against Yu. The now-approved order claims the woman has been abusive verbally and physically toward her two children and her husband. “Both children have suffered physical, verbal and emotional abuse,” the documents claim, ABC 7 reports.
“Emily often uses sleep deprivation to punish (the children). When the kids fall asleep without her permission, even if after 11:00 p.m., she would wake them up, demand that (they) go to her room, shut the door and make them cry,” the restraining reads.
It goes on: “After the children were born I became concerned about Emily’s behavior. Not only was she very demanding of me that I give her massages – one time when I could not because I was sick she stepped on my head until I did – and also began hiding money from me.”
Both Yu and her husband are doctors; Yu is a dermatologist, while her husband is a radiologist. Her husband also filed for divorce on the same day the order was requested.
