'Drano Poisoning' Story Faked by Doctor's Husband in Order to Get Custody of Kids, Lawyer Claims

Yue "Emily" Yu, 45.

The husband of the California dermatologist who allegedly poisoned him with Drano made up the story to gain custody of their kids.

45-year-old Yue “Emily” Yu was arrested recently after her husband claimed she poisoned him with Drano. Jack Chen claimed Emily constantly spiked his lemonade with the chemical. He even documented his wife pouring Drano into his drinks on three separate occasions.

“The idea that my client, who is a 45-year-old well-respected dermatologist in Orange County, would destroy her life, destroy her children’s lives and try to kill her husband is just completely absurd and untrue, and for that matter defamatory,” attorney David Wohl says.

However, on Friday, Emily was released on bail and was not charged with any crimes. According to Emily’s lawyer, the video Chen recorded was not what it seemed. Apparently, Emily was using the Drano to unclog the sink pipes. In the videos, Emily poured the chemical into an empty cup to avoid splashing.

“Anytime she poured Drano into a cup, it was completely empty,” the lawyer said. “It was for facilitating use in the sink or any other part of the house that was clogged as far as the drainage goes.”

Wohl argued that Chen created the false narrative with hopes of divorcing Emily and gaining custody of their two children.

“We believe completely that these claims he made are all part and parcel of that effort,” Wohl said.
