Supreme Court Rejects R. Kelly's Last-Ditch Appeal in Federal Sex Crimes Case

Jury selection in R. Kelly‘s federal trial begins Monday, and the disgraced singer is requesting that the judge ban jurors who have watched Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly.

The singer’s legal defense team filed a motion on Monday to disqualify any juror who has watched any portion of the highly talked about docu-series.

Legal documents obtained by TMZ state, “any potential juror who has watched any portion of this docu-series must be disqualified for cause on whether they can be fair, too great a risk exists that such a juror would base their verdict on matters not introduced into evidence in the courtroom.”

As we previously reported, R. Kelly’s Chicago federal trial starts Monday, where he faces child porn and obstruction of justice charges. One of his accusers is set to give a key critical testimony addressing the sexually explicit video he made with an underage girl.

The 2008 case is being revisited due to the critical testimony that could add decades of years to the 30-year sentence he is currently serving.

Last week there wasn’t an update on what Kelly’s legal defense could bring to the table, and now it looks like the question of fairness is being brought to the table.

His legal team insists that anyone that saw the docu-series could not possibly be fair in a decision that could seal Kelly’s fate.
