Justin Bieber has had a laundry list of issues occur throughout his “Purpose” album and tour run. From his spontaneous exits in the middle of his concerts and stopping backstage meet and greets, to announcing the end of pictures and hugs for fans, it has been non-stop media attention for the young super star. This time it seems like his smash hit, “Sorry,” may cause the pop singer even more grief.
According to SPIN, Casey Dienel, who records under the name White Hinterland, is suing Bieber and the song’s producer Skrillex for the alleged unauthorized use of a portion of her song, “Ring The Bells.”
Dienel expressed her frustration with the alleged infringement via Facebook. She revealed that she offered to meet with Bieber and his team to discuss the issue at hand, however, she was unacknowledged. Which led Dienel to file the lawsuit yesterday (May 25).
“I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into writing and producing ‘Ring the Bell,’ and I am proud of the finished product, which Rolling Stone listed as one of its ‘favorite songs, albums, and videos,’” Dienel says in the post. “Throughout my career, I have worked very hard to preserve my independence and creative control, thus it came as a shock to hear my work used and exploited without permission.”
