Before you heat up that Home Run Inn Frozen Pizza, you may want to reconsider. The USDA has issued a recall over possible metal pieces inside the food item.

On Sunday, August 14th, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall of 13,099 pounds of the frozen pizzas produced at the Home Run Inn Frozen Foods in Woodridge, Illinois. The recall applies specifically to the brand’s Chicago’s Premium Pizzeria Deluxe Sausage Classic Pizza, produced on June 6th, 2022. The 33.5-ounce cartons have a best-by date of December 3th, 2022.

Consumers curious about whether or not they’ve purchased one of the possibly contaminated pizzas can check the establishment number inside the USDA mark of inspection. All affected products will have the number: “EST. 18498-A.”

The situation came to light when multiple buyers complained to the Food Safety and Inspection Service office. Thankfully, no injuries or reactions have been reported, but the USDA is not taking any chances.

Home Run Inn Frozen Pizzas are sold in Walmart, Publix, Target, Sam’s Club, Walgreens, and other retailers nationwide. Stores have been advised to stop all sales of the pizza, and consumers are urged to throw them away or seek a refund.

Consumers who’ve purchased any of the food and have questions concerning the recall are encouraged to call Nick Perrino, COO of Home Run Inn Frozen Foods, at 630-783-9696, ext. 2151.
