R. Kelly‘s Chicago federal trial continued Thursday with testimony from an unnamed woman who said she engaged in sex acts with the disgraced singer “hundreds” of times while she was between the ages of 14 and 18.
“Jane,” now 37, was the teen girl at the center of the multi-platinum selling recording artist’s 2008 child porn trial. In her testimony Thursday, she told jurors she was introduced to the singer by her aunt when she was just 13 years old. She also told jurors her aunt, also a musician, was romantically involved with Kelly at the time.
She testified that her aunt told her she should ask Kelly to be her “godfather,” and weeks after, “Jane” said Kelly began to make sexual advances toward her.
“Jane” said during a phone conversation Kelly asked her what color underwear she was wearing and told her he was pleasuring himself.
She told jurors the phone conversations later turned physical, with the disgraced singer touching her breasts and other parts of her body when she was around 14.
She also claimed that around that time, he “started penetration,” and it was when she was 15 years old that they first had intercourse. Kelly would have been around 30 years old at that time.
When the prosecutor asked her how she knew what to do with Kelly sexually, she replied, “He would tell me what to do,” and when asked how many times she engaged in sex acts with Kelly, she responded, “Uncountable times– Hundreds.”
“Jane’s” testimony came on the fourth day of Kelly’s Chicago federal child pornography trial. She is one of several witnesses who will testify under a pseudonym.
In 2019, a federal grand jury indicted Kelly on 13 counts, including conspiracy to obstruct justice by allegedly rigging a 2008 trial on state child pornography charges stemming from a video of him having sex with “Jane” when she was a minor.
The R&B singer is already serving a 30-year sentence after being convicted this year in New York of federal charges alleging he used his fame to lure and sexually abuse fans.
