A Texas realtor is facing backlash after she threatened and spewed racist insults toward the Indian community: “Curry-a** b*****s.”
A 58-year-old woman named Esmeralda Upton was caught on camera this past Wednesday attacking, threatening and verbally abusing a group of Indian women for unknown reasons. In the video, the woman – who identified herself as Mexican-American, can be seen telling the women to go back to their country and calling them racial slurs.
The entire incident was captured by one of the victims. At one point, Upton mocks the victim as she tries to knock the phone out of her hands. This all happened in the parking lot of a business in the 3700 block of Dallas Parkway. The video starts with the Upton walking toward the women.
“Dinner with friends ended with a frightening experience. As we left Sixty Vines, Plano and headed towards our cars, an angry, drunk woman came at us with hateful racial slurs and even physically attacked us. We called 911 and thankfully, the cops arrived in minutes,” wrote Rani Banerjee in a Facebook post detailing the incident.
During the altercation, Upton ends up pulling out her own phone and then continues insulting the women and their race. “Oh, these f***ing Indians — they come to America because they want a better life.” Throughout the situation, Upton carried on, telling the women she “paid [her] f***ing way” into the country,” and at one point threatened to break one of the women’s cameras because they refused to shake her hand after she tried to apologize, knowing the cops were on the way.
Plano Police Detectives arrested Upton on Thursday. She’s been charged with misdemeanor assault and terroristic threats in the case being treated as a hate crime, according to a police report.
