If you purchased a beverage from Anheuser-Busch’s line of Ritas between January 1, 2018, and July 19, 2022, you might be entitled to compensation. This is according to a class-action lawsuit filed two years ago, claiming the company misled consumers about the lack of tequila in the sparkling margarita line.

Ritas do not contain any tequila at all. Instead, they are a cocktail-inspired malt beverages. “Nowhere on the packaging did [the plaintiff] see a disclaimer or any other statement indicating that the margarita product does not contain tequila, or that the product is just a flavored beer,” according to the complaint.

As the lawsuit comes to a close, Anheuser-Busch has admitted no wrongdoing. However, the company agreed to alter its language when selling the beverages.

A website has been established for consumers to file a claim. You can visit ritassettlement.com and submit a claim form, object to the lawsuit, exclude yourself, attend a hearing, or do nothing.

You could be eligible for payment, even without proof of purchase. But consumers with proof of purchase are entitled to up to $21.25 per household, according to Food and Wine. And there are a total of 112 different Rita-branded products that are included in the settlement.
