Don’t Eat That Sis; Animal Cookies Sold In Target Recalled for Possible Metal Fragments

If you were thinking about picking up a container of Market Pantry White Fudge Animal Cookies, you likely wouldn’t find them in stores as Target has pulled the item from shelves following a recall.

D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Company, the Pennsylvania manufacturer behind the popular cookie exclusively sold in Target, has voluntarily recalled the snack after metal pieces were found inside part of the cookies. On August 24th, the company, alongside the Food and Drug Administration, announced that the white frosted bear-shaped cookies sold in 44-ounce jugs were potentially impacted.

The affected products have a best-by date of February 21st, 2023. Customers should also check the lot number, which is Y052722. Anyone who has purchased the White Fudge Animal Cookies is urged to dispose of them or return them for a full refund.

D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Company confirmed that a metal wire was found inside a cookie, kicking off the recall. Thankfully, no deaths or injuries have been reported. However, anyone who has consumed the cookies and has questions may contact the company directly at 888-480-1988.

In recent weeks, several recalls have plagued the snack and dessert industry. GreenWise Organic Animal Crackers sold exclusively at Publix have been recalled due to an undeclared tree nut allergen. Kingdom Creamery of Vermont ice cream was forced to recall 14 of its flavors over fears of Listeria.

With so many food items being pulled on a frequent basis, keeping up with what you should not be eating can prove impossible at times. Thankfully, Recalls.gov/food is an up-to-date database that tracks recalls nationwide.
