A video showing a 78-year-old New York woman being dragged out of an Access-A-Ride vehicle is making headlines after the footage surfaced online. The incident took place on Wednesday in Marine Park.
The woman reportedly ordered the ride to take her to physical therapy. During her ride, the woman said she realized the driver went past her drop-off location and then refused to let her out of the car. That’s when the two reportedly got into a heated exchange and the driver pulled the woman’s leg in an attempt to yank her out.
A passerby witnessed the situation and tried to intervene when they saw the driver take the older woman’s phone. The good Samaritan got the woman’s phone back and, in doing so, was hit by the driver. Both the woman and the Samaritan were taken to the hospital to recover from injuries; they are in stable condition.
The driver ended up taking off in his car and fleeing the scene. “TLC is aware of the incident and is working with the NYPD on their investigation,” said a spokesperson from TLC in regard to the incident.
